Former Warwickshire CCC opening bat Norman Horner died today aged 77. Norman played for Dorridge CC for about 10 years following his retirement from the First Class game, and was fundamental in starting our youth coaching scheme. He played for WCCC from 1951 to 1965 scoring 18,000 runs, and still holds the counties record for an opening stand of 377* with Billy Ibadulla at The Oval in 1960. 16 Dec 2003 2003 season gets better ! Thirds finish with another win to end season third in their League. 30 August 2003 Dave Prusst, DCC Vice President and Knowle Football Club Chairman died today. 25 August 2003 First team win at Moseley Ashfield to maintain top spot. Seconds, not so fortunate and lose. 23 August 2003 For the third week running all 3 Sat sides win. How many Clubs can equal that this season ? Firsts win at Walmley to go top of Division again. Seconds are now second behind Moseley Ashfield. Thirds are now third, 5 pts ahead of Ashorne. 17 August 2003 DORRIDGE CC - ARDEN SUNDAY LEAGUE CHAMPIONS: Both Sunday sides win their respective Leagues. Congratulations to Tom & Steve. Sam Reddish 131 for seconds in winning draw at home to Marston Green. 16 August 2003 Second week running all 3 Sat sides win. Firsts are second, seconds are third and thirds are fourth ! 9 August 2003 Triple header for Dorridge with all 3 Sat sides winning, for only second time this season. 3 August 2003 James Parks hits 141* for Sunday firsts in their top of table clash with Alvechurch. 12th Dorridge ton of the season. 2 August 2003 Dorridge CC 3rd team bowl out Claverdon for 16

They only had 22 overs before rain came and finished with 85-0. 14 -17 July 2003 Annual tour starts with win at Chipping Sodbury by 6 runs. Sam Reddish 112*. Do you remember Nigel Bagley (DCC 1978-1983) ? Catch up with him here at Alexandra Park CC. Confirmation that the Club has agreed links with Knowle's ARDEN SCHOOL to allow them to use our ground for practice and school games. 19 Mar 2003 AGM held in new
pavilion extension. All officials re-elected.
In his address the President, Martin Ward, thanked the Chairman, Keith Wing, for his unstinting work during the year, and congratulated Giles & the first team on winning promotion to the Birmingham League. 14 Mar 2003 John Woodward long time supporter of Dorridge cricket has died aged 92 years. 10 Feb 2002 First team nets have started at Edgbaston and Parksy reports that the boys are looking good. ( I never thought Parksy was like that !! ) Giles confirms that Greg Pearson, formerly of Stratford upon Avon CC, has agreed to join Dorridge. Just in case there is anyone who didn't know ---- The Chairman is off to Las Vegas. In addition to the U17 game (see
16 Dec 2002 note) WCCC have asked us to host an U15 game. This will be
a
one day game on Thursday 17 July, Warwickshire U15 v Wales U15.
22 Jan 2003 Birmingham League Clubs Vote
for Change.
At the A.G.M., held at Edgbaston on 22nd January, clubs voted in favour of a re-structure of the league’s four divisions. From the start of 2004 season, the league will have a second and third division, instead of two regionalised second divisions. All 48 clubs voted on the motion and the decision to change (carried by 37 votes to 11) will see an end to the uncertainty that surrounds the number of clubs relegated from Division Two (East) and Division Two (West) at the end of each season. At the end of 2004 season, and in subsequent years, four clubs will be relegated from Division Three, to be replaced by the Champions of each of the four Feeder Leagues – Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. In all the other divisions, two clubs will be relegated and two will be promoted from Divisions Three, Two and One. The composition of Divisions Two and Three, in 2004, will be decided at a meeting of the cricket sub-committee of the league on Monday 3rd February. 20 Jan 2003 Good news that Abdul has agreed a 2 year contract with the club. Giles Clements, DCC 1st team skipper, has been appointed as captain of the Arden Sunday League side ... congratulations to Giles. WCCC have invited us to hold another U17 2-day game, after the success of the 2002 game Warwickshire v Worcestershire. This year on July 9/10 WCCC U17 will play Durham U17 at Dorridge. 14 Sept 2002 First Team obtain draw against Aston Manor to win Warwickshire League Div 1 and therefore promotion to The Birmingham League.
