has just been confirmed that Dorridge Cricket Club have been awarded
the coveted Clubmark accreditation by the Warwickshire Cricket Board
acting on behalf of the England & Wales Cricket Board and Sport
England.
Dorridge
CC set out to achieve this landmark over 12 months ago and included
Clubmark as a key aim within the Club’s development plan. With 5 teams
playing league cricket every weekend during the cricket season and with
a thriving junior membership the Clubmark standards in areas such as
coaching, sport ethics and child welfare and protection are seen as
important benchmarks against which performance should be judged.
Club
Vice Chairman John Wright said that “Although we have always striven to
operate as a quality local sport club understanding the Clubmark
benchmarks has required us to conduct a thorough self examination of
all that we do and how we do it. Inevitably changes have had to be made
and we have also had to commit ourselves to publish policy statements
in a number of important areas so that members, parents and the local
community in general can see exactly what we stand for and how we go
about things. It is important to emphasis as well that this is a never
ending journey and we will continue to drive standards forward. This is
nevertheless an important landmark for Dorridge Cricket Club and one
which confirms we are very definitely heading in the right direction".
